'Cash Explosion' to be taped in Youngstown on Saturday

For the first time in close to 15 years, the popular Ohio Lottery Game Show 'Cash Explosion' is coming to Youngstown.

"Youngstown is one of our favorite locations to come and be apart of you know, the community always embraces us here so we actually love it and it's great to be back," said Barry Riley, executive producer of the show that's been running since 1987.

Eight pre-selected contestants and eight contestants drawn live from the audience will play for a $250,000 top prize on Cash Explosion LIVE. In addition, Cash Explosion will give away $25,000 in cash prizes to audience members throughout the show taping.

"There's an opportunity for somebody who gets up tomorrow morning, decides to come to the show. They're going to have a chance to win $250,000," he added.

Folks began lining up outside of the Covelli Centre Friday afternoon, ahead of the Saturday live-to-tape production.

"They said Covelli Centre, free, Oh I'm there," said Sherbie Dean, who tells 21 News she's been mailing in tickets, trying her luck for years.

Dean made sure she was the first person in line and says she'll be camped out all night.

"My word search book, I think it will keep me busy for most of the night, at least until I pass out because I know I'm going to sleep at some point," Dean mentioned.

Doors open at noon on Saturday, with the show being taped at 2:00 pm. The event is free and seats are first come first served.
