Newton Township Cemetery Bridge dedicated to local veterans

The Newton Township Board of Trustees held a ceremony dedicating the Newton Township Cemetery Bridge to veterans in the community.

The bridge was dedicated to American Legion Post 236, AMVETS Post 112 and VFW Post 3332 with a plaque stating that their donations playing a role in the bridge's restoration.

Newton Township Trustee Chair Peter Augusta tells 21 News these organizations donated $50,000 for the restoration of the bridge.

"Because of that, we felt that it would be best if we were to dedicate this bridge to the veterans of our community who gave their lives for us to live a better life," Augusta said.

Augusta says he hopes the plaques on the bridge can act as a reminder to people utilizing the bridge of the sacrifices the veterans in their community made for them.
