The Hermitage Lion's club has announced the "Lion's Give a DAM" 5k run where partcipants will be allowed to run across the Shenango River Lake reservoir dam which is normally strictly blocked off.

"A View That's Seldom Seen" is the tagline for the event according to Jack Copen, the event chairman.

The 5,000 meter run will begin at the nearby bridge and take runners through the Shenango River Lake area, across the dam and back.

Free hotdogs and gatorade will be waiting for runners at the finish line courtesy of the Lion's Club.

Entry costs are $25 with a Buy One Get One entry for $10 if a runner invites another.

All profits from the entry fees got to the Lion's Charitable Giving fund to help the blind and visual impaired according to Copen.

The first 50 runners to sign up will receive a free T-shirt.

The run is set for June 28 with registration opening 8:15 a.m. and the run starting at 9 a.m.

Participants can register online now.
