Salem Regional opens occupational health facility to serve growing workforce

Salem Regional Medical Center (SRMC) has officially opened its new occupational health facility in North Jackson, bringing specialized services for local employers and their teams to an area previously lacking access.

Located at 10850 Mahoning Avenue, the center is now offering employment-related screenings, injury care, drug testing, physical exams, and more. The goal is to support workplace health and safety in what hospital leaders describe as a "high-growth" and "underserved" region.

“This is a high growth area in terms of distribution, but it’s also an underserved area for the needs of workers,” said Debbie Pietrzak, vice president of marketing and planning for SRMC. “We saw this as a wonderful opportunity.”

The facility is led by Medical Director Dr. Supreet Dhaliwal, who previously worked with many of the companies now returning for services. According to Dr. Dhaliwal, the need became clear after the closure of a major occupational health provider in the region.

“There is a huge need for the occupational medicine in the area,” Dr. Dhaliwal said. “There are so many companies reaching out to us, so we are very excited and hopeful it will be really good.”

SRMC officials say the center is already seeing strong demand and that many patients followed Dr. Dhaliwal from her previous practice. Services currently include treatment for workplace injuries, DOT and pre-employment physicals, drug and alcohol testing, and background screenings.

In August, SRMC plans to expand the site’s offerings to include urgent care services with extended hours, further increasing access for residents in and around North Jackson.

“We really are seeing a high growth in terms of her launch of the practice, and a very good acceptance in this particular area, in the Mahoning Valley,” Pietrzak added.

The clinic is currently open Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. More information can be found on SRMC’s website or by calling 330-331-4966.
