Youngstown City School District will host a town hall meeting tonight to gather community feedback on its proposed district reconfiguration plan, including uniting its traditional middle and high schools and selecting new names and mascots.

The meeting is scheduled from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the East High School auditorium, 474 Bennington Avenue. It will feature a presentation on the plan and an opportunity for questions from residents.

The district previously announced "Phase One" of its reconfiguration, which will allow juniors and seniors to choose between pathways at Choffin Career and Technical Center or College Credit Plus courses starting in the 2025-26 school year.

Beginning in the 2026-27 school year, the district plans to consolidate its two traditional middle schools and two traditional high schools into unified institutions. The current East High School site will house the new unified high school, and the current East Middle School will become the new unified middle school. The district will maintain its middle and high school early college programs.

"Phase Two," previewed by the district, involves moving the early college high school and middle school into the former Chaney building by the 2027-28 school year.

A landing page with updates on the reconfiguration plans is available on the Youngstown City School District website.
