21 News is working to learn what led up to a police presence in a Sharon neighborhood Wednesday afternoon.
Our crew at the scene saw multiple Sharon police cruisers outside of a home on Hull Street near the intersection with North Oakland Avenue.
Sharon Police Chief Edward Stabile tells 21 News officers were called to the scene shortly before 12:30 p.m. to investigate a disturbance.
Stabile says the disturbance in question happened after a man was approached outside of his home by 33-year-old Stephen Hansen of Las Vegas who attempted to get into his vehicle.
From there, Stabile says the victim ran into his home and Hansen followed him. Police say the victim shot at Hansen after this causing him to leave the house and run for another vacant home.
Stabile says no one was hurt by the gunfire.
Hansen is currently in the Mercer County Jail and is expected to face several charges stemming from the incident according to Stabile. At this time, Stabile says there is no threat to the community at large.
The Hermitage and Sharpsville Police Departments assisted at the scene along with McGonigle Ambulance Services and the Mercer County District Attorney. The Mercer County Incident Response Team also did a cautionary sweep of the neighborhood.
