FirstEnergy works to restore power after Valley storms

FirstEnergy crews continue to work to restore power to hundreds of customers across Trumbull, Mahoning, and Mercer counties following storms that swept through the Mahoning and Shenango Valleys Wednesday evening.

 As of early Thursday morning, the number of affected customers has decreased from the initial more than 1,400 reported Wednesday night.

 Trumbull County – 235 Outages

Trumbull County still has the highest number of local outages. Bloomfield Township reports 17 of 443 (4%) customers without power, with an estimated restoration time of 7:00 a.m. Greene Township has 25 of 378 (7%) customers affected, also with a 7:00 a.m. restoration time.

Brookfield Township has 65 of 4,285 (2%) customers without power, and Fowler Township has 2 of 1,134 (< 1%) customers affected, both with an estimated restoration time of 9:00 a.m. Hartford Township reports 8 of 895 (< 1%) customers out, with power expected to be restored by 9:00 a.m.

In Warren, 113 of 19,453 (< 1%) customers remain without power, with an estimated restoration time of 8:30 a.m. Vienna Township has 1 of 2,191 (< 1%) customers out, with a 7:00 a.m. restoration time. Yankee Lake has 4 of 40 (10%) customers affected, with an estimated restoration of 9:00 a.m.

Mahoning County – 26 Outages

In Mahoning County, outages are minimal. Berlin Township has 20 of 1,150 (2%) customers without power, with an estimated restoration time of 8:30 a.m. Boardman Township reports 1 of 22,044 (< 1%) customers out, with power expected back by 8:00 a.m.

Struthers has 1 of 4,935 (< 1%) customers without power, with an estimated restoration time of 6:30 a.m. Youngstown has 4 of 28,248 (< 1%) customers affected, with an estimated restoration of 7:00 a.m.

Columbiana County – 21 Outages

Columbiana County also has scattered outages. Elk Run Township has 1 of 840 (< 1%) customers out, and Hanover Township has 4 of 1,622 (< 1%) customers affected, both with an estimated restoration time of 8:30 a.m. Leetonia reports 2 of 1,009 (< 1%) customers without power, with a 8:30 a.m. restoration time. Salem Township has 14 of 1,368 (1%) customers affected, with an estimated restoration of 8:30 a.m.

Mercer County – 138 Outages

Across the state line in Mercer County, Pennsylvania, some outages persist. Deer Creek Township has 24 of 272 (9%) customers without power, with an estimated restoration time of 7:30 a.m. East Lackawannock Township reports 9 of 677 (1%) customers out, also with a 7:30 a.m. restoration time.

Farrell City has 1 of 2,307 (< 1%) customers without power, and Findley Township has 2 of 678 (< 1%) customers affected, both with an estimated restoration of 6:30 a.m. Grove City Borough has 5 of 247 (2%) customers out, with power expected back by 6:30 a.m.

Hermitage City has 2 of 8,691 (< 1%) customers affected, with a 6:00 a.m. restoration time. Lackawannock Township has 1 of 894 (< 1%) customers out, and Mercer Borough has 2 of 1,523 (< 1%) customers without power, both with a 7:30 a.m. restoration time.

New Vernon Township has 8 of 273 (3%) customers affected, with power expected by 7:00 a.m. Pine Township has 13 of 2,143 (< 1%) customers out, with a 6:30 a.m. restoration time. Sandy Lake Borough has 1 of 427 (< 1%) customers without power, and Sandy Lake Township has 2 of 634 (< 1%) customers affected, both with a 7:30 a.m. restoration time.

Springfield Township has 2 of 1,067 (< 1%) customers out, with power expected back by 6:00 a.m. Sugar Grove Township has 3 of 447 (< 1%) customers without power, with an estimated restoration of 7:00 a.m. Wolf Creek Township in Mercer County still reports the highest percentage of affected customers, with 63 of 355 (18%) experiencing outages, with an estimated restoration time of 8:00 a.m.
