Red Cross assisting victims of Youngstown house fire

 A fire early Thursday morning on Youngstown's South Side heavily damaged a home, according to investigators.

Firefighters responded to the blaze on Willis Avenue around 1:40 a.m. The fire appears to have originated on the first floor toward the rear of the house, possibly in the kitchen.

No one was injured, but officials stated the house was not a total loss.

The American Red Cross was contacted to assist the occupants with shelter and other necessities.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
