Medtech Products Inc. is recalling some of its Little Remedies Honey Cough Syrup due to potential microbial contamination with Bacillus cereus and a loss of shelf-stability. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration published the announcement Thursday.
Bacillus cereus is a bacterium that can cause two types of foodborne illnesses. Symptoms can include nausea, vomiting and stomach cramps appearing one to six hours after consumption, or stomach cramps and diarrhea eight to 16 hours after consumption. While healthy individuals typically experience only short-term illnesses, high levels of exposure can be fatal.
The affected products were distributed across the United States through various retailers and online channels between Dec. 14, 2022, and June 4, 2025.
The recall impacts the following lots of Little Remedies Honey Cough Syrup, packaged in 4 FL OZ (118 mL) amber bottles and sold in an outer carton:

The lot code is visible on both the bottle label and the bottom of the carton.
Medtech Products Inc. stated that no serious adverse events related to the recalled syrup have been reported to date. This recall does not affect any other Little Remedies products.
Consumers who have purchased the recalled honey cough syrup should stop using it immediately and contact their physician or healthcare provider if they have experienced any health issues that may be related to the product. The company is offering reimbursement for consumers who have purchased products from the affected lots.
