A Valley car dealership is helping kids fighting blood cancer at Akron Children's Hospital's Boardman Campus with several donations.

The Subaru Loves to Care initiative by Boardman Subaru, in partnership with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS), donated 80 blankets, 30 patient care kits and handwritten messages to cancer patients.

Someone in the U.S. will be diagnosed with blood cancer every three minutes. The tiring and long rehabilitation process can leave some patients with constant chills and feelings of weakness.

Boardman Subaru also donated $5,000 to LLS's Urgent Need, Pediatric, Adolescent and Young Adult Fund, a program that gives financial assistance to the families of pediactric blood cancer patients.

"We understand how difficult cancer treatment can be, and hope that these donations can help ease the challenges and provide comfort for these wonderful members of our community and their families," said John Stanko, Vice President of Boardman Subaru.

From June 1 through June 30, the Subaru Loves to Care initiative will match donations made to LLS.org up to $100,000.
