East Ohio College's (EOC's) residential learning program has transitioned to an online/hybrid format.
This transition will combine hands-on clinicals and labs with online learning to provide students greater flexibility as their pursue their nursing career goals.
The program is open to students in East Liverpool and its surrounding areas. EOC Campus President Samantha Esposito is quoted in a press release saying students can expect the same level of support and guidance throughout the program in its new format as when it was on campus.
"The added flexibility of the program gives individuals who may not have previously been able to attend nursing school the opportunity to achieve their goals as nurses," Espositio said.
Students will take their didactic nursing courses online and will complete their hands-on lab and clinical experiences on EOC's campus in East Liverpool, as well as at regional medical facilities.
Some of these medical facilities include Alliance Community Hospital, Covington Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation, East Liverpool City Hospital, Heritage Valley Health System, Trinity West, Saint Elizabeth Hospital's Bordman and Youngstown campuses, Continuing Healthcare of Lisbon, WVU Medicine Weirton Medical Center and UPMC.
With EOC's direct admission policy, students can begin taking nursing-related classes right after their acceptance into the program. Students can expect to complete their training, be prepared to sit for the NCLEX-RN* licensure examination and earn their associates degree in 18 months.
Classes are set to begin in September of 2025. Application for the program is now open and those interested are encouraged to apply as early as possible since there is a limited number of seats available.
