Two PennDOT employees died Wednesday after the truck they were in crashed in Venango County.

The two men were identified by PennDOT as Robert Greenlee and Seth Baughman. Their ages and hometowns were not immediately available.

State police said the single-vehicle crash occurred at 2:54 p.m. Wednesday as a 2020 Mack truck was traveling east on Jackson Center Polk Road in Mineral Township.

Police said the front passenger-side tire of the truck malfunctioned, causing the vehicle to go off the south side of the road into a ditch. The truck then struck a tree and came to a final rest in the ditch.

Both Greenlee, the driver, and Baughman, the passenger, sustained fatal injuries. The truck required towing from the scene.

"We’re saddened to share that we lost two members of the PennDOT team, Robert Greenlee and Seth Baughman, following a tragic crash on June 18 in Venango County," PennDOT said in a statement. "Our thoughts are with the families, friends, and colleagues of Rob and Seth, who lost their lives Wednesday serving the Commonwealth."

State police are investigating the crash.
