Grocery Outlet Bargain Market in Boardman is kicking off its second annual "Independence For Hunger" campaign in support of the Rescue Mission of the Mahoning Valley.
The campaign kicks off Wednesday, June 25 and lasts until Thursday, July 31 and aims to provide critical food resources to individuals and families experiencing hunger in the Valley.
During the campaign, customers can donate $5 at checkout in exchange for a $5 coupon towards their next purchase of $25 or more.
At the end of the campaign, Grocery Outlet will work directly with the Rescue Mission to identify the most urgently needed pantry items and will use 100% of the funds raised to purchase those items.
Last year's campaign saw $2,000 raised in support of the mission. Store owners Eric and Sarah Senges hope to exceed that amount this year.
"The most rewarding part of owning your own business is that it enables us to give back to the community in many different ways," the Senges said.
