The 56th Annual Central Great Lakes Emmy Awards were handed out in Indianapolis on Saturday evening.

21 News was recognized with two Emmy awards.

The first award went to 5pm news anchor Lindsay McCoy in the category of morning/daytime newscast for television markets 51+.   The entry was from May 28, 2024, the afternoon of the Realty Building explosion.  That newscast aired two hours after that explosion and included live news conferences.

Also winning,  101 West - Invisible Chains.   This 30 minute news program won in the Diversity/Equity/Inclusion & Societal Concerns category.   This program focused on human trafficking in the Mahoning Valley.   It's a crime that's prevalent in Ohio but the numbers are deceiving because of the hidden nature of the crime.  Among those receiving this award,  reporter Sydney Canty, videographer Ron Martin, graphic artist Alan Brooks, host Matt Stone, assistant news director Justin Mitchell and news director Sheila Miller.
