A two-story home in Hartford was a total loss after a fire Saturday morning.

Firefighters from several departments responded to the blaze on the 7500 block of Hayes Orangeville Road NE around 8:40 a.m. The first firefighters to arrive found flames throughout the wood-frame home.

"The occupants all had gotten out before the FD arrival with only seconds to spare," Brookfield Fire/EMS stated in a social media post.

Firefighters battled the blaze for nearly five hours in high temperatures and humidity. Despite their efforts, the home was destroyed.

The family displaced by the fire has received temporary assistance from neighbors and the American Red Cross.

The Brookfield Fire Department also apologized to the Brookfield community for their absence at the Annual Block Party Saturday morning, noting that emergency calls, including the Hartford Township fire, prevented their attendance.
