The Salineville Police Department is asking the community to be on the lookout for a suspect in a felonious assault case.

Police are searching for Joah Leffler (pictured above), who is suspected of being involved in a felonious assault case on Thursday, June 19.

According to a news release from the Salineville Police Department, at approximately 9:40 p.m. on June 19, officers responded to the area of the intersection of West Main Street and Washington Street for a report of an assault.

Upon arrival, officers found a victim with injuries consistent with an assault. Treatment was provided on scene, and the victim was taken to the hospital for further evaluation, according to the release.

The victim's injuries are non-life-threatening, according to the release.

According to the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction, Leffler is on parole after being released from prison in August after being given a two-year sentence for a burglary and domestic violence conviction in Columbiana County.

Police say Leffler is believed to be driving a silver Chevy Trax with the license plate JUQ2049.

In the Salineville Police Department's earlier statement on its Facebook page, police urged the public not to approach Leffler because he was considered to be armed and dangerous.

However, in the release from June 23, it states that law enforcement believes the incident to be isolated and there is no ongoing threat to the public.

"We take acts of violence seriously in our community," said Chief of Police John Marra.

Marra continued," Our officers are working diligently to locate the suspect."

If you see Leffler or know of his whereabouts, you're asked to call the Salineville Police Department at 330-679-2322.

Anyone with information about the incident are encouraged to call as well.
