Youngstown State University is getting its campus ready to celebrate its 27th annual Summer Festival of the Arts on July 12 & 13 featuring art of all kinds from all over.

The festival will mostly consist of a juried showcase of art pieces from YSU students and local artists including paintings, sculptures, ceramics, photography, textiles, woodworking, metalwork and jewelry.

In a juried art show each artist must submit their work to a panel of appraisers before being accepted. This ensures each piece meets a standard of quality.

While focusing on the art showcase, the festival also features family friendly entertainment from live music to interactive experiences.

Students Motivated by the Arts will be hosting a tent with hands on art activities for children of all ages.

For older audiences YSU is setting up multiple outdoor music stages giving musicians from across Mahoning Valley a platform to play range of genres for festival visitors.

If you're interested in a specfic showcase or artist you can view their pieces early online a the Summer Festival of the Arts website

Free parking for the event will be available in YSU campus lots on 5th Avenue.
