A Grove City man is facing charges after police say he was riding a motorcycle with a three-year-old child present while under the influence of drugs.

According to a criminal complaint, Grove City Police stopped a motorcycle operated by 36-year-old Kenneth Sterner III for expired registration. Police say a three-year-old child was on the gas tank with no protection.

Police say Sterner told officers he didn't think it was a big deal that the child was on the motorcycle. The child was released to his grandmother.

Police say as they were speaking with Sterner, his behavior and facial expressions were unusual, so officers asked for permission to search him, which he consented to according to the complaint.

According to the complaint, a search of Sterner revealed a hypodermic needle with a cap on it, as well as a magnifying glass and small plastic case. Police say Sterner said the needle wasn't his, but admitted to snorting Methamphetamine and smoking Marijuana within the past 24 hours.

Police say Sterner continued to show signs of impairment, so officers conducted a field sobriety test on him, which showed several clues of impairment.

According to court records, Sterner is facing several charges including a felony charge of endangering children, as well as misdemeanor charges of DUI and possession of drug paraphernalia and other minor traffic offenses.

Court records do not show an arraignment date for Sterner at this time.
