Animal Charity of Ohio is reporting what it says were the preventable deaths of four dogs within 24 hours, with three of the deaths attributed to heat exposure.

On Tuesday, Animal Charity of Ohio humane agents investigated after two deceased dogs were found in the trash thrown to the curb. Both animals were victims of heat exposure, according to the organization. These deaths followed a prior report of a dog that died from heatstroke after being left outside.

On Monday, an older dog on the city's North Side died from heatstroke. The owner reportedly left her dog tied in a driveway without shelter while she went to the store during a heat advisory. The dog's body temperature registered at 107.6 degrees, the maximum limit on the thermometer. An investigation into this incident is ongoing, with charges pending.

Animal Charity of Ohio also reported a separate incident where a dog died after becoming entangled on a porch railing. The organization indicated the dog appeared weak and dehydrated, suggesting it may have been seeking water or relief from the heat.

The organization has emphasized that these deaths highlight a pattern of neglect and underscore the importance of providing animals with adequate water, shade, and indoor access during warm weather.

Animal Charity of Ohio urges residents to report suspected animal neglect or cruelty by calling their Humane Department at 330-788-1064 or by emailing detailed information to acohumanedepartment@gmail.com.
