Transformer fire knocks out power to more than 1,200 in Trumbull County

A transformer fire early Wednesday left nearly 1,300 homes and businesses in Trumbull County without power.

FirstEnergy reported a total of 1,220 customers affected across several communities after a transformer caught fire at Tod Avenue and Tait Road shortly after 4:30 a.m. Wednesday.

As of 5:30 a.m., the outages impacted 556 customers in Newton Township, 393 in Lordstown, 245 in Warren Township, 58 in Newton Falls, 48 in Warren, and 20 in Braceville Township.

FirstEnergy crews had restored the power before 7:30 a.m.
