Jacoby Walker, who was 17 years old when a 22-year-old Youngstown man was fatally shot, has learned his fate

Walker, now 20, was handed a sentence of eight to 10 years in prison on a charge of involuntary manslaughter with a firearm specification in connection with the 2022 death of Isiah Helms.

Walker pled guilty to this charge in May.

Walker was one of three suspects implicated in Helms' death, whose body was discovered at the Mt. Hope Veterans Memorial Cemetery in February 2022, shortly after he was reported missing.

Two others have already been convicted in connection with Helms' death. Jamiyah Brooks received a sentence of 17 1/2 to 22 years for voluntary manslaughter and tampering with evidence. Nathaniel Austin Jr. was sentenced to three years in prison for tampering with evidence.

Walker's case originated in juvenile court due to his age at the time of the offense before being transferred to adult court.
