The former YMCA site in Warren will receive a $3.5 million tax credit for a project to revitalize the building.
This is part of more than $66 million in tax credits from the Ohio Department of Development's Historic Tax Credit Program to support the preservation and revitalization of historic buildings throughout the state.
The Warren YMCA building was built in 1928 and continued to house the facility until 2014 when its charter was revoked for failing to comply with YMCA standards.
In September of 2023, project was announced to revitalize the building. The project will see the building converted into 42 residential units while keeping several of the YMCA's facilities including the gymnasium and basketball court for residents to use.
Additionally, masonry repair and weatherization are planned to preserve the building's exterior character.
The total cost of the project is $19,901,165.
