Youngstown State University is encouraging veterans and military families to take part in an initiative supporting those who wish to pursue careers in education. The EmpowerVetEd Grant offers financial assistance and resources to eligible people seeking an education degree.

The grant is designed to assist veterans in applying their leadership and experience to the classroom setting. To be considered, applicants must have an honorable discharge, be currently serving in the military, or be the spouse of a military member or veteran.

YSU is designated a military-friendly and Ohio Collegiate Purple Star Institution. The university provides veteran-specific resources and guidance to assist with the transition to student life.

Those interested in the EmpowerVetEd Grant can contact Patrick “Rick” Williams, Associate Director of the YSU Office of Veterans Affairs, at 330-941-2506 or plwilliams@ysu.edu. More information is also available at www.ysu.edu/veterans.
