United Local Superintendent squashes 'missing trophies' rumor
School Leaders in the United Local School District are looking to put an end to rumors of trophies being lost during the construction of a new k-12 building on campus.
It's no summer off for United Local Superintendent Lance Hostetler and other school leaders who are watching a six-year plan come to fruition.
"We're coming up on our ribbon cutting, that will be August 16 at 11 am, and everyone from the community is welcome and will be doing tours after that," said Hostetler.
Which will be the first official look at the new K-12 building before kids head back to school.
"There were some rumors in the community that we were getting rid of all the trophies. That is completely false," Hostetler emphasized.
Hostetler says every ten years some of the older non-championship trophies are dispersed among people that were on those teams, helping them create space for more.
"All the league championships, all the regional championships, districts, all that we had all the coaches taken them home for the summer because obviously we're doing a lot of work," he explained.
A trophy case in the new building, along with cases in the current, remodeled building will house all of the hardware.
"In the new school and the existing building we're remodeling. We're actually going to have more trophy space then we've ever had before," Hostetler explained.
