Two more lawsuits have recently been filed in connection with a crash that killed a woman in the Teddy Foltz Memorial Poker Run in June of 2023.
According to court records, two more lawsuits were filed against Gloria Dothard, who was originally charged with failure to yield in connection with the incident, but later pled guilty to a reduced charge of having a broken tail light.
Dothard was convicted on August 18, 2023. VictimPatricia Hagerty was still alive at that time, but she later died of her injuries about one month later. That conviction still stands at the time of this writing.
A lawsuit was filed May 21, 2025 by Carla Paris against Dothard and Hagerty's husband Harold Hagerty III. Now, two more lawsuits have been filed not long after that.
The second lawsuit was filed the very next day by Paul Halfelder, another biker in the Teddy Foltz Memorial Run. Halfelder says he crashed his motorcycle leading to permanent injuries after Dothard failed to yield to his right of way.
Halfelder is requesting damages in excess of $25,000 plus interests and court costs.
The third suit was filed by Harold Hagerty on June 23 against Dothard, Halfelder and State Farm Insurance. This lawsuit also accuses Dothard of injuring him after she failed to yield to his right of way and collided into his motorcycle.
Additionally, the lawsuit accuses Halfelder of "negligently operating his [motorcycle]" causing the collision and accuses State Farm of refusing to provide medical coverage for his injuries.
This suit also demands damages in excess of $25,000 plus court costs, interest and attorney fees.
Dothard has not responded to the two new lawsuits, but has since responded to the first suit from Paris denying the allegations for "lack of knowledge." Another filing states the injuries and damages were "directly and proximately caused by ... Harold Hagerty III."
