According to a recall alert from the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), there is a recall for a brand of bicycle helmet that was sold both in-store and online.
According to the alert, the recall on bicycle helmets manufactured by Bell Sports Inc. went into effect on June 26, 2025. About 31,200 units are affected by the recall.
An additional 480 units were sold in Canada according to the release.
According to the alert, the bicycle helmets do not comply with the impact requirements of the CPSC's mandatory federal safety standards.
As a result, the helmets can fail to protect the user in the event of a crash, posing a risk of head injury, according to the alert.
According to the alert, no injuries have been reported.
The recall affects Bell Sports' Axle, Cadence, Rec and Frenzy children's bicycle helmets with model numbers B0605Y, B0605C or B04947.
The recall also affects Cadence and Passage adult helmets with model number B0605Y.
The model name, number and manufacture date in month/year format can be found on a sticker inside the helmet.
The alert outlines that the recalled product was sold at Walmart, Target, Academy Sports+ Outdoors and other stores nationwide.
The helmets were also sold online at Amazon.com, FredMeyer.com, Academy.com and Target.com from September 2024 through May 2025 for about $20.

A chart attached to the recall alert outlines which model number, names, colors and manufacture dates are included in the recall.
The recall alert outlines that if consumers possess a recalled product to stop using it immediately and contact Bell Sports for a full refund.
Consumers are instructed to destroy the recalled helmet by cutting off the straps of the helmet.
Consumers can upload photos of the helmet with the straps cut off to consumersupport-bell@bellhelmets.com to obtain a refund.
