Community members met with some members of the Poland Village Council in a non-council affiliated event to discuss some potential "what if" ideas for what the Poland Library location could become if it were relocated.
The community forum took place at the Poland Village Council Hall at 9:30 a.m. on June 28, 2025.
According to Poland Village Councilman Sam Moffie, the forum was not council affiliated, but it was a way for community members to share concerns and ideas.
Councilman Moffie opened the floor to those in attendance at the forum.
"... It's a brainstorming session for what do we do with this beautiful building that's in the heart of the village, and hoping to meet with all of you and open up to ideas of what we could do," said Councilman Moffie.
Councilman Chris Graff spoke on a few possibilities for the building if the Poland Library relocated. However, the change would come with zoning changes.
"That building only has a permit to be a library. Anything else that that building would become would have to go through zoning changes and so forth," said Councilman Graff.
Councilman Graff went on to suggest that there is a possibility that the building could become a government building, government offices or a police station.
However, Councilman Graff said that he would prefer to see the library stay in the village.
"Our main goal is to have the library stay in the Village of Poland, served out of this facility which we think is one-of-a-kind and unique to the United States."
This community forum took place just after a Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County (PLYMC) meeting on June 24 where members of the PLYMC organization answered questions from the community about a proposed relocation.
