Two children in Struthers have been taken to the hospital after police say they fell out of a window Monday morning.
According to a police report, the Struthers Police and Fire Departments were called to a home on Charles Street and found a woman tending to her four-year-old son who had fallen out of a window. The woman told police her five-year-old son had also fallen out of the same window.
Police say the four-year-old was crying and bleeding from the mouth.
According to the report, the family had just moved into the home the previous day and the woman and her two sons slept in an upstairs bedroom. Police say the woman woke up to use the bathroom and heard screaming while she was doing so.
That's when the woman found the two boys on the front porch, brought them inside and called 911. Police say the children's mother had checked to make sure the windows were locked the night before.
Police inspected the window and found that the locking mechanisms were within the reach of children around the two boys' age and had a lift assist mechanism allowing for it to be opened with little effort.
Police further say there was no screen on the window, nor was there one on the roof or ground directly outside it.
At this point, the extent of the two boys' injuries are unknown, but police do not believe them to be life-threatening.
At this time, no one is facing any charges in connection with this incident.
