Five Valley journalists to be inducted into Youngstown Press Club Hall of Fame

Five Mahoning Valley journalists will be inducted into the Youngstown Press Club Hall of Fame this September.

This year's inductees include:

- Marie Cartwright: Cartwright graduated from Canfield High School and received her bachelor's degree in journalism and marketing with a minor in political science from Kent State University. She's held many communications and public relations roles over the years for entities including the Edward J. DeBartolo Corporation, DeBartolo Property Management Inc. and the Glimcher Realty Corp in Columbus. She currently serves as a Canfield Township Trustee.

- The late Paul C. Jagnow: Jagnow graduated from Ravenna High School and attended college at Youngstown State University, where he served as chief photographer and city editor of The Jambar. At the same time, he worked nights and weekends for The Vindicator, eventually joining the newspaper's full-time staff in 1960, working his way up to the role of managing editor for news in 1986. He retired in 2006 and died in 2017.

- The late John Nagy: Nagy delivered the morning drive-time news on WKBN Radio. He graduated from Warren G. Harding High School and attended college at Kent State University, and later began his career as a disc jockey at WPIC Radio in Sharon and later served as a disc jockey at WHHH Radio in Warren before going to WKBN Radio, where he eventually earned the title of News Director. He died in 2020.

- Tony Paglia: Paglia graduated from Lincoln High School in Ellwood City and attended college at Duquesne University. He went on to serve as a reporter and political writer for The Sharon Herald newspaper. He also served as press secretary for U.S. Rep. Joseph Vigorito, as well as several roles at The Vindicator, including Senior Regional Editor. He ended his career as vice president of government and media relations for the Youngstown Warren Regional Chamber.

- Lisa Solley: Solley graduated from YSU, where she served as editor of The Jambar. From there, she went on to become the Tribune Chronicle's first female sports reporter. She also served as a page designer at The Vindicator before returning to the Tribune Chronicle, where she worked her way up to the position of managing editor. After serving as director of communications for Area Agency on Aging 11, she briefly returned to journalism for a short stint at the Business Journal before retiring in 2021.

In addition, three more Valley journalists have received the Excellence in Media Award, including 21 News' very own Sydney Canty, who has been with 21 News for five years and was recently promoted to co-anchor 21 News at 11 p.m. weekdays with Derek Steyer. Canty has received several other honors in the past, including several Emmy nominations and a recent Emmy award for 21 News' 101 West special on human trafficking. She was also among the recipients of the Mahoning Valley Young Professionals 25 Under 35 Award.

Other recipients include WKBN and WYTV Digital Executive Producer Chelsea Simeon and Willie 95.1 radio personality Margie Lenhart.

Simeon graduated from YSU with a degree in journalism, beginning her career at the Elyria Chronicle Telegram in Lorain County. She joined WKBN in 2015, where she won a first place Ohio AP award for a report on how communities spend federal COVID-19 relief money.

Lenhart graduated from Slippery Rock University and has worked in radio for nearly 30 years at stations including WPIC, Lite Rock 102.9 (now Y103), WRRO, Oldies 93 WBBG, Mix 96, Mix 98.9 and Froggy 95.1, which is now Willie 95.1.

Additionally, Peter H. Milliken was awarded the Medal of Merit. Milliken received his Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from New York University and his Master of Arts in Journalism from The Ohio State University. He joined The Vindicator in 1981 and served as a reporter for 36 years. He served on the Youngstown Press Club's board of governors once it was re-established in 2018 and has also established a scholarship at YSU, awarded annually to a junior or senior journalism major.

The inductions will occur and the awards will be presented at the club's fifth annual Hall of Fame and Awards Dinner on September 24.
