A Valley Mayor expressed sympathy and sorrow for the lives that were tragically lost in a plane crash Sunday.

According to a Facebook post, Hubbard Mayor Ben Kyle said the Weller family has been like a backbone to the community with their caring spirit and dedication.

"The Weller family has been a cornerstone of the Valley for decades—hardworking, devoted, faithful, and kind," said Mayor Kyle.

He also added how the Hubbard community held a strong connection to the Wellers and Liberty Steel.

In the post, Mayor Kyle reminisced on childhood memories and family connections he had with the Weller family, one that dates back more than 50 years when his mom was first hired as one of the first employees at Liberty Steel.

"Over time, my dad, Tim, delivered steel for years, and my uncles, Tom and Bill McCullough, spent their entire careers working for the wellers. As a kid, I remember washing trucks and helping out however I could in the race shop. My mom still smiles when she talks about babysitting Jim Jr. and all the great times spent with the family," Mayor Kyle said.

He said though the family will be missed, they will never be forgotten.

"Jim & Ronnie, Johnny & Maria—it was always a joy to see you. Your warmth, faith, and love for your family left a lasting impression on everyone lucky enough to know you. Your legacy will live on in the lives you touched," the post read.
