YOUNGSTOWN Downtown Youngstown is hosting an Independence Day celebration on Friday, July 4, featuring food, music, fireworks and a tribute to the city's boxing history.

The event, which aligns with Downtown Youngstown's First Fridays, includes the induction ceremony for the Youngstown Walk of Fame, honoring five of the city's notable boxers. Permanent sidewalk markers will be unveiled for these individuals from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. on the Wean Park sidewalk, located under the Market Street Bridge.

The five boxing champions scheduled to attend the unveiling of their markers are Ray "Boom Boom" Mancini, Kelly "The Ghost" Pavlik, Harry "Dirty Harry" Arroyo, Jeff "Prime Time" Lampkin, and Greg "The Flea" Richardson. These athletes join Kool & the Gang as permanent honorees on the Walk of Fame, recognizing their contributions to Youngstown's cultural and athletic heritage.

Following the induction ceremony, activities will continue with food trucks and live musical performances. Live music near the Youngstown sign is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. The evening will conclude with a fireworks display at dusk.

Admission to the event is free.
