BOARDMAN  A 2-year-old boy was taken to Akron Children's Hospital in Boardman on July 4 after being found at the bottom of a swimming pool, and wasn't breathing,

Two township police officers were sent on a medical call on Green Bay Drive Friday afternoon.

When the police arrived, they found the boy's father in the front yard holding the child. The father told police his son was breathing.

The father told police he was in the backyard when the boy exited the house through a sliding glass door and fell into the above-ground pool. The four-foot deep above ground pool had a deck at ground level but no safety gate or railing, according to the police report.

The father said he performed CPR and mouth-to-mouth resuscitation, at which point the child coughed up water and began to cry. He estimated the boy was in the pool for about one minute before he found him.

The Boardman Fire Department Rescue and an ambulance also responded. The boy was taken to the hospital for further treatment
