Twenty troopers from the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) are on the way to Texas to help support rescue efforts.
Troopers are a part of the OSHP Mobile Field Force and aim to support search, rescue and recovery work following the July 4 flooding along the Guadalupe River in Texas, according to a news release from the Ohio governor's office.
Governor Mike DeWine activated the force after calling Texas Governor Greg Abbott over the weekend, offering support from Ohio.
Troopers are expected to be in Texas for one week.
Additionally, a team of four officers and four K-9s from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) will be traveling to Texas as well to support rescue, recovery and search efforts.
"Our hearts go out to everyone in Texas who is suffering through such an unthinkable tragedy," said Governor DeWine.
Governor DeWine continued," By sending in our teams from Ohio, we can support recovery work and give some relief to the Texas first responders who've been working nearly nonstop for several straight days."
