The Poland Township Board of Trustees will be adding some new additions to the township park to enhance security for parkgoers.

The Poland Township Park, located in the eastern part of the township, originally held two cameras but will now hold a total of eight.

Chairman Eric Ungaro of the Poland Township Board of Trustees told 21 News that safety of residents of the park has always been a top priority.

"We've already approved them [and] we've already approved the shed that they're going in. So, at this time, they're in the process of being up and running for the residents of Poland Township and Village," said Chairman Ungaro.

The cameras will cover a nearly mile-long area, and officials are hoping to use those cameras to survey the area in case of any potential event.

"We just figured with the traffic that it does get, we should take care of it," said Chairman Ungaro.

Chairman Ungaro wanted to ultimately reassure residents that the top priority for the Board of Trustees is safety.

"That was one area where, you know, it was just a little bit dark out there, and a lot of people do go there and people from all over, so we just wanted to make sure that our citizens could feel one hundred percent confident when they're having kids out there, [and] having their parties," said Chairman Ungaro.

The cameras join new upgrades to the township park, such as the new pickleball courts.
