Pennsylvania has become part of a proposed nationwide settlement with eight drug manufacturers worth approximately $720 million.

"These funds come out of the pockets of companies that contributed to the nationwide addiction epidemic and into Pennsylvania communities," Attorney General Sunday said.

The eight companies in this settlement (Mylan, Hikma, Amneal, Apotex, Indivior, Sun, Alvogen, Zydus) have agreed to a sign-on period for local governments to participate.

As of now Pennsylvania could receive up to $28 million, barring participation from local governments.

Below is the payment shares between the eight company defendants.

In addition to these payments, some of these settlements allow states to receive free medicine and pharmaceutical products or cash instead.

Indivior has agreed to stop selling and manufacturing of any opioid product for the next ten years, and the other companies are prohibited from promoting opioids and from making medicine containing 40 mg of oxycodone per pill.
