A diver from East Liverpool who traveled to Texas with his nephew earlier this week to help with recovery efforts from a deadly flood has updated 21 News on the progress of operations.
Dale Hammon tells 21 News recovery efforts are still ongoing as of Friday afternoon with diving crews still actively searching for bodies. Hammon says so far Friday, only the bodies of a pony and goat have been recovered.
Hammon tells us he and his nephew Nate Payne were breaking off from the other divers who are continuing to search the same spot in a lake to search in a river for bodies.
Hammon explained that even if you search somewhere once and don't find anything, you may find something there a few days later because bodies become more buoyant the longer they're underwater and they may move or float up to the surface.
Hammon and Payne left for Texas on Tuesday to meet with a group of divers called 300 Justice Road, a group of retired Navy SEALS.
We will conitnue to follow the group's recovery efforts and will provide updates as we get them.
