The Mahoning Valley Freedom Fighters (MVFF) hosted a fan drive outside of International Towers in downtown Youngstown Tuesday evening.

The MVFF collected fan donations for International Towers residents to help them beat the heat.

Dirk Hermance, a director with the Mahoning Valley Freedom Fighters, said the group wanted to put on this drive because every member of the community is important, no matter the situation they are in.

"We're concerned about the people inside the building. We want to make sure the people in this building feel supported," said Hermance, "Youngstown is very strong and resilient, a very giving community. It's very important that the community knows that we want to make sure everyone is included."

21 News reported last month on the high temperatures some people living in the building are dealing with. Residents said most floors have no air conditioning, but it is available in the lobby and community room.

All units that were donated will be distriputed by the building manager to residents who requested one.
