Another weekend means another slew of events in downtown Youngstown. Below is a guide to what's going on in downtown this weekend.
Before the weekend begins, Penguin City Brewing will host the Penguin City Night Market Thursday, July 17 from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. The night market will feature artisan vendors, hands-on workshops, non-profit and artist showcases and plenty of food trucks.
Additionally, Penguin City will host the Penguin City Tattoo Expo all weekend long, from Friday, July 18, until Sunday, July 20.
This event will take place from 11 a.m. until midnight Friday and Saturday, and 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. Sunday. The expo will showcase tattoo artists from across Ohio offering live ink sessions, as well as a series of competitions.
Admission for the tattoo expo is $10 at the door.
If art is more your speed, you can check out the Harlem Renaissance Art Gala at The Concept Studio, presented by Invisible Woman LLC.
This event will take place Thursday, July 17 at 6 p.m. and will feature live jazz music, a curated display of local and regional artwork and a fine art auction.
If you're looking for an event the whole family can enjoy, you can check out the OH WOW! Science Center Friday, July 18 for STEM Night, which takes place from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m.
Guests can explore all three levels of the museum, participate in STEM-themed activities, story time and the grand opening of the new Imagination Playground, an open-ended play exhibit designed to foster collaboration, creativity and problem-solving.
Local history buffs and ice cream lovers can check out the Tyler History Center on Sunday, July 20 for National Ice Cream Day from noon to 4 p.m.
Guests can make their own ice cream while enjoying live barbershop quartet music and learning about Youngstown's role in the history of ice cream through walking tours.
This event is absolutely free to attend.
Finally, jazz lovers can head to Wick Park Sunday, July 20 for another installment of the Jazz in the Park Youngstown Concert Series from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. This week's performances will come from the Andy Bianco Group and the the Etso Jazz Quartet.
Jazz in the park takes place every Sunday through August 31.
