A violent incident temporarily closed the Subway in Brookfield Township as a woman assaulted two employees.
According to the report for Brookfield police, Ki'Mara McKinney was outside the Subway before it opened, pulling on the doors and repeatedly calling the store to the point the employees had to hang up and ignore her calls.
When the business opened McKinney reportedly entered and confronted an employee before striking them in the face repeatedly. The other employee tried to separate them and was struck in the face multiple times as well.
During the fight McKinney reportedly reached into an employee's pocket, stealing their phone, stating "I have your phone now," retreating into her vehicle and fleeing the scene.
Officers spotted her vehicle and pulled her over on State Route 7.
Speaking to the officer McKinney gave a fake name before admitting to being at the Subway but denying any knowledge of the incident despite having the stolen phone in her possession.
She was taken into custody, but managed to slip out of her handcuffs and threaten the arresting officers before being subdued.
EMS brought both employees to St. Joseph's hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
Brookfield Subway owner Joe Hray told 21 News that the two employees are doing well and being checked out at the hospital, and the store reopened by noon on Wednesday.
Hray also said he applauded the work of the Brookfield police for the quick capture of a suspect in the case.
McKinney is currently being held in the Trumbull County Jail for Assault, Robbery, Menacing, Identity Fraud and Obstructing Official Business.
