Antasia McMeans
YOUNGSTOWN - A Youngstown woman has been sentenced to fifth degree felony vandalism after she pled guilty to defecating on a gravestone in July of 2024.
Members of the deceased's family told police that they believe McMean committed this crime due to a dispute with a relative of theirs.
In court her lawyer pointed out that McMean has a history of mental illness that leave her with poor impulse control despite her continued therapy and medication.
The presiding Mahoning County Judge John Durkin said he understood but that it was "no excuse."
Judge Durkin sentenced 25-year old Antasia McMeans to three years probation, continued counseling, no contact with the deceased's family, and $3,052.62 in restitution to pay for a new gravestone for their cemetary plot on Belmont Avenue.
If McMean violates her probation she will face one year in prison.
