Connecting with creativity in downtown Youngstown

The city of Youngstown is launching a new weekly downtown event that looks to connect local artists, residents, and creatives.

From 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday July 31, and continuing every Thursday thereafter,  the city invites anyone and everyone to bring their own art supplies to the Phelps Street Gateway to enjoy an open-air, artistic evening. All ages, skill levels and crafts are encouraged to participate.

While no classes will be provided, the Youngstown Office of Special Events said in a recent release that they are looking forward to revitalizing downtown Youngstown's "artistic spirit".

"We're excited to see the Phelps Gateway activated with art, laughter, and community again," the Office of Special Events said in the release.

The Phelps Street creative evenings will continue through the fall, weather permitting.

Free parking will be available on Commerce Street, directly behind 20 Federal Place.
