The Mahoning Valley's newly transformed Walmart Supercenter opened to customers today as the store unveiled a "community-inspired" mural. The mural included depictions of Mill Creek Park and kayakers as well as local cultural events like the Slavic Heritage Festival.

The mural is part of Walmart's Community Mural Program which "is an important part of each store transformation and furthers Walmart's commitment to the local community," the company said in a Friday statement.

In addition to an expanded store, new interactive features for customers and easier in-store navigation, Walmart presented $12,000 in grants to local nonprofit organizations at the unveiling. The organizations recognized included: Clothed in Strength; Down Syndrome Association of the Valley; Oak Hill Collaborative; Thrive Mahoning Valley; Veterans' Outreach.

The remodeled Walmart Supercenter is located at 1300 Doral Dr, Youngstown, OH 44514 and open to the public.
