YOUNGSTOWN The City of Youngstown is inviting community members to a meeting, aiming to explain and update the public on the Mill Creek Interceptor Sewer Improvement Project.

The meeting is set for Monday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Community Room of the Covelli Centre, located at 229 East Front Street.

According to a news release, the meeting will provide an overview of the $43 million project's progress, construction phases and possible impacts on the community.

City officials and project engineers will also be present at the meeting, presenting information, answering questions and gathering feedback from attendees.

The Mill Creek Interceptor Sewer Improvement Project is an infrastructure initiative aimed at enhancing the city's wastewater management system, improving environmental outcomes and supporting future growth.

In 2002, a legal agreement, or consent decree, was put in place, forcing Youngstown to create a plan to reduce sewer overflows into local waterways like Mill Creek.
