Trumbull Co. woman completes milestone for personal health and cancer research

A Trumbull County woman completed a huge milestone over the weekend for herself and for cancer research.

Martha Yoder completed her full 30 mile goal for Pelotonia in Columbus with an average pace of nearly 10 minutes a mile. The bike event raises money for Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital.

Yoder suffered a setback in training when she crashed her bike on her regular route. She had to undergo surgery for her injury on her stomach and spent time in a wheelchair.

Yoder got back on her bike just six weeks for the ride to continue her training. She raised $1,250 for cancer research during her training and ride.

“I think raising the money is the bigger satisfaction for me,” Yoder said. “I was actually more nervous even with the setbacks I had in training. I was more nervous about actually getting that goal and making sure that I raise what I committed to raise.”

She is still raising money past that goal until October. The link to donate can be found here.

When not biking, Yoder serves as the Trumbull County Auditor.
