POLAND The Poland Township Police Department is being recognized by the Ohio School Board Association.
According to Chief Greg Wilson, the recognition comes from the department's continued partnership with the school district.
"Essentially, we work with the school district and our main focus is keeping the students, staff and faculty members safe," said Wilson.
Wilson also told 21 News that the department trains faculty members in the school district for any kind of emergencies that could occur.
Additionally, the Poland Township Police Department has been able to use the school district facilities for training exercises of its own.
Wilson shared with 21 News several events that the Poland Township Police Department will be hosting in the future, including a "coffee with a cop" event and ice cream social event to name a few.
"It's just getting together with our community and listening to them and have great conversations with them, getting to know them. That's what we focus on year round," said Wilson.
Upcoming community events featuring the Poland Township Police Department can be found on its Facebook page.
