Savion Woodall
WARREN A Warren man indicted on a murder charge and other felonies in connection with an August shooting at a convenience store pleaded not guilty Thursday morning in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court.
Judge Ronald Rice denied bail for 23-year-old Savion Woodall after prosecutors say he was seen on surveillance video at the Elm Road Convenient Food Mart when David Owens III was fatally shot in the parking lot.
A Trumbull County grand jury indicted Woodall on charges stemming from the shooting death. A second man was also wounded in the shooting.
Woodall faces one count of murder with a firearms specification, two counts of having weapons under disability, and one count each of attempted murder, illegal possession of a firearm in a liquor permit premises, tampering with evidence, carrying concealed weapons and improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle.
The next court hearing for Woodall is scheduled on Wednesday.
Federal firearm charges have also been filed against two other men, Jumal Ellis Rowe, 32, and Rayjon Ray McElroy, 25, in connection with the shooting. Federal authorities said surveillance video showed Rowe with a semi-automatic pistol and McElroy with a folding firearm.
The Convenient Food Mart was boarded up and closed following the shooting by order of the Trumbull County Court. The store will remain closed until a hearing is scheduled for the city to present its case.
