WARREN Police in Warren and Howland are investigating after multiple break-ins were reported at both Insight-owned hospitals in Trumbull County this week.

At least two break-ins were reported at Insight Hospital & Medical Center Trumbull in Warren, and two more were reported by Howland Police at Hillside Rehabilitation Hospital.

The first report from Insight Hospital & Medical Center came to Warren Police Monday, August 18 when a staff member found that his safe had been broken into by an unknown suspect.

Police say 1,216 OxyContin pills were missing from the safe. The Ohio Pharmacy Board and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) have been notified and are investigating the theft.

A second incident was reported at Insight Hospital & Medical Center Wednesday, August 20. This time, police say someone had thrown a brick through a window, but it did not appear anyone had gone inside.

However, police were called back a short time later for a report of a metal grated window being unscrewed and plywood on the other side being kicked in.

Police say the suspect appears to have set off fire extinguishers in the building and footprints were seen in multiple hallways. No one was found in the building and it doesn't appear anything was stolen this time.

Meanwhile at Hillside, police say a suspect broke into the hospital sometime between Friday, August 15 and Monday, August 18. Police say the suspect broke into side doors that had been barricaded shut and stole about $400 worth of hand tools.

Police were called back to the hospital Wednesday, August 20 when employees reported that another door appeared to have been forced open. Nothing further appeared to be missing.

At this time, no arrests have been made and no suspects have been named in any of these break-ins, and it is unclear at this time if these incidents are connected.
