The John J. McDonough Museum of Art has announced its four opening exhibitions for the fall season.

Youngstown State University graduate and New York-based artist Aislinn Janek will be exhibiting her piece entitled 'Landscape as a Form of Knowledge'. Her focuses, as an emerging artist, are interdisciplinary—she uses sewing, painting and other materials throughout her artwork. Janek has exhibited her work around the world, with showings in Japan, France and Czechia.

Assistant Professor of Art at Kent State University at Stark, Arron Foster will also have his piece, 'In_A_Sense' showcased at the exhibition. Foster's prints and installations have been exhibited in national and international galleries.

Additionally, the McDonough Museum will be exhibited work from Michael Boyd Roman and Ohio-based artist Justin Sorensen. An Atlanta-native and Oberlin College Professor, Roman's piece 'Negus Weighting on a Miracle' blends hip-hop and urban culture with art history and religious iconography, the artist said in a Tuesday press release from the museum. Sorenson's work, entitled 'June 13th' is "an exhibition of work drawing from the format of the Chinese handscroll," the artist said. Sorensen's work has been featured nationally and internationally at exhibitions in New York, Washington D.C., Russia and Canada.

The full exhibition will be on display from September 2 to October 25, kicking off the museum's fall season. A reception for the showcased artists will also be held on September 5, 5:00pm to 7:00pm at the McDonough Museum.

The museum says, this season's exhibitions and reception are free and open to the public.

The McDonough Museum is open Tuesday through Saturday, 11:00 am to 4:00 pm.
