WARREN Trumbull County Commissioners and township leaders met in Warren on Friday to discuss the future of the Coalburg Lake Dam.

In addition to the county commissioners, trustees from Brookfield Township and Hubbard Township were in attendance alongside the Western Reserve Land Conservancy and the Community Foundation of Eastern Ohio and Western Pennsylvania.

During the meeting, it was discussed that the conservancy and the foundation aim to work together to acquire the land.

According to Jason Tedrow, Hubbard Township Trustee, he has been working towards this plan for two years.

The plan, according to Tedrow, would be for the conservancy to buy the land with the community foundation helping them get the grants to do so.

"There's been a lot of hurdles. And one of the big hurdles to get across was actually getting the property transferred into a public entity, which will help us look for some funding sources," said Tedrow.

The potential acquisition includes 338 acres of property, extending up to Stewart-Sharon Road, but excludes the dam and its associated liabilities.

When asked about the plans for the land, Tedrow shared with 21 News some ideas that he would like to see.

"I do want to be able to make sure that people so have some ability to access this property no matter what, whether it be through a park or not, I just want it to be an asset," said Tedrow.

Another meeting to discuss the dam and its future further is set for September 9, 2025.
