BOARDMAN A Boardman woman faces a felony assault charge following a police investigation into the alleged abuse of a nonverbal patient under her care.

Police charged Mykaylia Lanay Reynolds, 24, with assault after an employee of a company that provides home services to patients with intellectual and developmental disabilities reported that Reynolds hit a patient in the face on June 13. The patient has developmental disabilities and is nonverbal, according to a police report.

An employee in training told their supervisor that they witnessed Reynolds slap the patient in the face after the patient spat out her medicine.

The supervisor, who provided police with a written statement from the witness, told officers that Reynolds is no longer on the schedule.

Reynolds, who was arrested on a warrant issued last month, was booked into the Mahoning County Jail on Tuesday. She was released on $5,000 bond the same day and was ordered to have no contact with the victim.

Reynolds has a preliminary hearing scheduled for Sept. 30 in Mahoning County Court.
